Scrapbooking

Scrapbooking History

Through my years of scrapbooking I have had the pleasure to meet and interact with many fellow scrappers. The fascinating thing to me is the wide spectrum of experience levels within this wonderful craft. I've met and know people who have been scrapbooking since before I was born but also know many people who have just recently started. This hobbie of ours has been around for a long time and continues to grow in popularity. Did you know scrapbooking has been around for hundreds of years? The first related magazine called 'The Scrapbook' went into circulation in 1825 and the term scrapbooks attained measurable popularity by the late nineteenth century. Needless to say that the invention of the camera in the late nineteenth century added a whole new element to scrapbooks and thus began the developement of books we are most familiar with. I encourage every scrapper to read up on the history of scrapbooking to fully appreciate the longevity of this hobbie. Also, I'll bet that you will stumble across some great ideas that have not been seen for years. Enjoy

Tony
